Hole Story
The cups arrived on time, when they were supposed to have.
While I first tried sizing the cups, initially I thought they were going to be a good fit when placed in the 2 1/8” hole, until I accidentally discovered that the cup was able to rock back and forth in its seat, which allowed it to fall through the opening.
Thankfully they fit the 2” test holes, like a dream, which made the decision of which size I was going to use really easy. (The 2” hole)
I’ve opted to space the holes 6” apart, and I staggered the position of the starting holes in hopes that it would provide better light exposure for both beds. This spacing allows me to have 7 plants in each of my 5 foot beds.
As an aside, it will be interesting to see if I’ll be able to use the 7 pots/bed configuration as some kind of weekly food planner.
Drilling the downspout was remarkably easy!
When I was finished with the drilling, I removed the rough bits of vinyl with a knife and sanded the holes smooth.
That also went a lot easier than I thought it would.
When I finished my sanding, I flushed out the downspouts in my shower (Its the only hose I have, up on the 15th floor) and set it aside to dry over night.
In the meanwhile, I drilled drainage holes in two of the elbows and inserted a piece of irrigation line in order to direct the flow of the solution from bed to bed to reservoir when assembled.
