OS upgraded! (or Not)

Feb 25th - After much hullaballoo, on my 7th round of troubleshooting, I was finally able to see live sensor data posted to my spreadsheet using the updated Operating System! The first thing I noticed (after realizing that it was actually working and wasn’t getting ready to crash) was that I wasn’t seeing any of the error messages or garbled data that I had been witness to while running the first generation OS. I am so glad I took the time to revisit this, and rethink my code in light of everything I’ve learned while working on this over the last couple of months.

With that mostly invisible Milestone out of the way, I’m now in a position where I can start assembling a set of modular Sensor Packs (SenPaks) to set up throughout the garden. On a related note, I really like how well the phone connection I added is working for my bus line. So much in fact, I’m thinking that I might use phone jacks instead of USB cables to connect my SenPaks to the Colonel. Not only are they a little smaller in size, they also have a small lock to hold the cable in place

or not.

Shortly after typing this victory message the code started crashing. It was generating the same error code (Exception 28) as I experienced on my first attempt to join the 2 bits of code relating to the LCD and the spreadsheet… and may or may not be related to tripping the watchdog timer.

I took a couple of days off to try and clear my head/get some distance and I’m now in trouble shooting mode, trying to isolate where it breaks.
