I think that I’ve started a band
Those who know me know I love a good bit of light hearted shenanigans, especially if it gives me an excuse to prank or screw with a friend.
As far as the back story on this goes, back on Jan 30 I had plans to meet up with the guys from work, for some BBQ turkey and a viewing of the 1984 classic “Bachelor Party”.
As I was getting ready to leave, I had twitch open, and was dialed into DJ_C_Wied’s pre-NYE stream. Once I was finally packed and ready, I popped into the chat box to let everyone know I was leaving and wish them all a Happy New Year.
In response to this, Wied lets me know that he has “that song I’ve been bugging him to play all year” cued up, and asked me if I can wait.
Having no idea whatsoever what this might be (I hadn’t been hounding him for nothing) I sat tight, waiting with baited breath.
The song ended
The next song started… an unfamiliar disco piece, so I listened intently, trying to place it.
Then I realized what had just happened… it was ABBA’s Happy New Year, and I just got trolled. :D
I totally gave Wied a kudo for that one, then stuck around for one more song to get the taste out of my mouth, before running out the door/
Needless to say I was late arriving at my friend’s place, so I explained what happened with the ABBA, and they totally appreciated the move… something which I shared with Wied when I got back… which seems to have now inspired him into declaring me some kind of super-fan and making me his Channel’s ABBA guy.
He dedicated 2 more ABBA songs to me in the show following this.
This was my call to action
It started simple enough, I spoofed a record jacket, changing the name of the group to aBaa and adding Wied plus 3 sheep in lieu of the original members of ABBA. (The end result was received rather well)
But I wanted to do more; raise the bar if you will.
So. after some hooing and hawing, I decided that I was actually going to cut the single from the record… so I did.
Then this morning, the unthinkable happened… while having my morning coffee I started pondering what it would sound like if aBaa was to cover another song… so I got busy, and 2 hours later came up with this piece of evidence that I require therapy.
